Art & Design
At Hallaton we provide art opportunities to stimulate children’s creativity and imaginations. Our curriculum allows children to experiment with a range of colours, forms, textures, patterns and different materials to communicate what they see, feel and think. Our key strands are; Drawing, Painting & Mixed Media, Sculpture & 3D and Craft & Design. See below for our Long term plan (Big Picture), which incorporates resources and planning from Kapow.
Children are able to develop their skills through practising and consolidation of fundamental skills. Children are given first-hand experiences to learn from, and they have opportunity to go on class visits, work individually or in a group. Where we can, we link our Art & Design projects to our term's overall topic and also study and learn from a variety of artists.
The planning of the subject is undertaken by the whole teaching staff. It is based on the National Curriculum Programmes of Study and Attainment targets for Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. In Early Years, it is based upon the Early Years foundation stage Development Matters document.
